Faces of Addiction: Judy, Part II

January 17, 2017 By Alex Windings

Lydia’s search to fill an emotional void began early in her childhood. At first, she channeled her desires through food, which led to a significant weight gain. When that failed, she turned to the one thing she thought could fill that void – prescription drugs.

Once her mother, Judy, discovered her daughter’s addiction, she began hiding her own medication. But no matter how carefully Judy thought she had hidden the pills, Lydia would find them. Her dependency consumed her mind and eventually led to her death.

Judy has finally come to terms with her daughter’s death. Looking back, she believes a program like Count It! Lock It! Drop It! ™ could have helped educate her on the proper way to safely store prescription drugs so her daughter couldn’t have gotten into them. For more of Judy’s story, visit our videos section.
