Local prescription drug program receives funding from BCBS of Tennessee Health Foundation

September 13, 2016 By Alex Windings

The BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee Health Foundation has provided $1.3 million in funding for the state’s Count It! Lock It! Drop It! program.

The money is divvied up across the state to coalitions and organizations that participate in the program. The funding is for two years. The foundation will also provide brochures, counting sheets, and other items.

Count It! Drop It! Lock It! is a comprehensive community program for prescription drug abuse prevention that began in Coffee County, Tennessee. The program encourages people who are prescribed drugs to keep track of how many pills they have, keep them locked up and properly dispose of unwanted, expired or unused pills.
