Participate in National Drug Take-Back Day

Tossing out old and unused items is a seasonal ritual for many, and it can prove to be a cathartic experience. Another semi-annual purging opportunity is just days away, and this one can save lives.

Saturday, Oct. 22, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, and it provides an easy way for any Tennessean to help reduce the risk of prescription drug misuse and abuse.

Every spring and fall, the National Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and partner organizations host thousands of take-back events across the country. The goals are to provide safe, convenient locations for disposing of prescription drugs and other medications and to raise awareness about the potential risks for abuse and misuse of certain medications, such as opioids.
