Spring Drug Take-Back Day Results

July 17, 2019 By Alex Windings Leave a Comment

Saturday, April 27,th was the DEA’s National Drug Take-Back Day and people all over the country went to their local take-back event to drop off their unused and expired prescription pills. Different types of pills were collected; this includes vitamins, aspirin, and most other drugs commonly found inside the medicine cabinet. If you were one of the participants, you might be curious as to how much was collected.

Tennessee saw the collection of almost 11 tons of drugs at a total of 140 collection sites.

Here’s how much Tennessee, and the country, collected :

  • Tennessee: 21,660 pounds
  • United States: 937,443 pounds

If you missed one of the take-back events or have more medications in need of disposal, you can use our drop box finder to find your closest permanent drop box to safely dispose of your medications.
